Director of Field Education

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all field activities and courses follow the Council on Social Work Education, Educational Policies and Academic Standards.
  • Provides oversight to the placement of students in community organizations for field practica courses.
  • Designs and implements curriculum for MSW field education courses (SOWK 781, 782, 783, 784) and BSW Field Education Courses (SOWK 382, 481, 482, 483) and coordinate teaching appointments for field courses.
  • Employs, maintains, trains, and evaluates part-time faculty field liaisons (18+) and faculty in their role as field liaison.
  •  Designs and implements all field education trainings, orientations and advisements for MSW and BSW.
  • Administers, collects and analyzes annual evaluations of students, field instructors, field liaisons, and field education sites in both field education programs.
  • Provides oversight to the training, credentialing and assignment of field instructors and practicum sites.
  • Meets one-one-one with all at-risk students or those who have been displaced or terminated from their practicum site while enrolled in a field education course.  This includes meeting with field instructors and liaisons one-on-one as needed.
  • Participates in relevant committee assignments, including chairing the field education advisory committee, which consists of community partners.
  •  Pursues external funding to support field education at the college.
