Volunteers needed: UofSC to help tally how people get around campus

To better understand and plan transportation services for campus, the University of South Carolina needs student volunteers to help tally the use of alternative modes of transportation by students, faculty, staff and visitors.

The Office of Vehicle Management and Parking Services is looking for student volunteers to count the number of people who walk, ride bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles and buses at designated locations on campus Tuesday, April 12 and Wednesday, April 13.

Volunteers will collect data during two-hour shifts. Students will be stationed at pedestrian and bike locations, campus shuttle stops and at apartment shuttle stops.

Students can sign up online. It’s an easy way for students to fulfill service hour requirements for classes and organizations.

Data collected will inform university plans to provide efficient and effective transportation options that meet the needs of the campus community.
