Mindful Workshop is offering students Koru Introduction to Mindfulness: It's your life don't miss it. The course meetings are Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 6 to 7:15 p.m.
Mindfulness, according to Jon Kabat-Zinn, is paying attention to the present moment, on purpose, non-judgementally. A koru, the spiral shape of the unfurling fern frond, is the natural representation of the balance between perpetual growth and stability.
This workshop series teaches skills in mindfulness and meditation, which offer the type of growth symbolized by the koru. Beyond simply decreasing your stress, this course offers approaches and skills to help students find more satisfaction in their daily lives.
The course is designed to help you learn mindfulness through the practice of specific skills that calm and focus your mind and through the practice of meditation. All skill levels are accepted.
Students participating are asked to read "Wherever You Go, There You Are" by Jon Kabat-Zinn (books are not provided) and should plan to attend all four classes.
Registration is available online and the deadline is 9 a.m., Oct. 4. For more information, contact Jennifer Myers at jenmyers@mailbox.sc.edu or 803-777-6152
