Faculty: RSVP to meet editors from The Conversation

All faculty members are invited to join Provost Joan Gabel for an informational session about The Conversation from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Tuesday (March 14) at the Russell House Theater.

The Conversation is a nonprofit online news site, sponsored by leading institutions and foundations, that allows academics to lend their voices to important topics of the day, ranging from politics and business to science and the arts. What makes The Conversation different from traditional news sites is that all of the content is written by faculty from colleges and universities from around the country; in the SEC, Vanderbilt and the University of Florida have regular contributors. Articles are developed in conjunction with experienced editors and often get republished in major national outlets like the Washington Post, CNN and The Associated Press.

As an institution of higher learning, Carolina has an opportunity to share its research and insight with broad audiences, and now more than ever, the public needs informed voices to help shed light on a rapidly changing world. Editors from The Conversation will attend the session to answer questions and let faculty know how they can contribute. Those who plan to attend should RSVP to uscnews@mailbox.sc.edu.
