Several events to affect evening traffic, parking around arena district

Several events on Wednesday, Nov. 17 and Thursday, Nov. 18 will affect traffic and parking for the university community next week.

Gamecock basketball games at Colonial Life Arena on Wednesday and Thursday nights will require $10 for event parking. In addition, Koger Center will host a "Broadway in Columbia" two-night run of Anastasia on Wednesday and Thursday.

Faculty, staff and students with evening classes can get clearance to park near the arena during these evening events by taking the following items to the Parking Services office at the Pendleton St. Garage (1501 Pendleton St.):

  • Valid UofSC permit
  • Printed copy of your class schedule
  • Picture ID

Vista Lights
Vista Lights also takes place Thursday, Nov. 18,  three blocks away from campus, creating additional traffic and street closures. Beginning at 5 p.m. that evening, no vehicles will be allowed on Gervais St. between Gadsden and Assembly Streets. Two blocks of Lincoln and Park Streets, from Senate to Lady Streets, will also be closed.

Thursday, Nov. 18 shuttle from Pendleton St. Garage
Members of the university community are advised to find different routes to the game or home from campus on Thursday night. Those attending the basketball games can ride a shuttle from Pendleton St. Garage to Colonial Life Arena for $10 round trip to avoid traffic.
