Campus Conversation: Manny Valentin-Mejia

"Last spring semester was cut short due to COVID and really changed the way that I learned material through online teaching. It has been a long journey of self-pacing and self-motivation. I feel that having to change the way I learn has helped me become more adaptable. This has been helpful in my role as a Resident Mentor (RM), which I started last fall semester. With having to learn how to manage online classes, my RM role, and COVID, I have not been as involved on campus as much as I would like to be. I am currently in LASO (the Latin American Student Organization) and I have met some amazing and inspiring people. I enjoyed joining LASO as it felt like a home away from home. I met people that shared similarities in my culture, and it helped me find my sense of belonging at UofSC."
