Campus Conversation: Evan Walker

"Philanthropy and community service have always been major priorities for me, but what really piqued my interest in it is my involvement in high school. In October of ninth grade, my mom and I went to serve breakfast to the less fortunate in downtown Atlanta with an organization called Agape Way to fulfill my service hours, and we never stopped going. Every Sunday, my mom and I served, rain or shine.

The biggest motivator for me in terms of giving back to the community would most likely be my friend Emmanuel, who I met through Agape Way. Emmanuel is a veteran who lives in downtown Atlanta and always came to eat on Sundays, but instead of just eating, he found as many ways as possible to help out anyone and everyone he met. He completely changed my life and pointed me in a direction of giving back to the community and making the best out of every situation.

One of my goals this year is to raise at least $1,000 for Dance Marathon and Relay for Life. I'm aiming to get involved in research and internship opportunities in the medical field around campus to try and gain experience for medical school. I'd love to graduate with leadership distinction and be involved in as many things as possible while keeping a good GPA."
