      Health Hazards and Their Symbols

      The following table shows the various symbols you may find on containers of chemicals that are considered health hazards.

      toxic.gif (867 bytes) You may see this symbol on chemicals that are TOXIC.
      corrosive.jpg (2858 bytes) This symbol is used to identify materials which are CORROSIVES. Corrosives cause irreversible tissue damage and burns on contact with skin or eyes.
      This symbol is used to identify materials which are RADIOACTIVE.
      carcinogenic.gif (374 bytes) CARCINOGENS, or chemicals that can cause cancer, are identified with this label.
