      Control Measures

So how do we protect ourselves again the hazards of this chemical? This section will tell us, by informing us about engineering controls required for safe product use personal protective equipment required for use of product, safe storage requirements and guidelines, and safe handling procedures.

Read over the "Control Measures" section:

      SECTION VII: Control Measures

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: NON REQUIRED UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS. IF WORKING IN A CONFINED AREA OR MISTING IS OCCURRING, USE NIOSH-APPROVED SUPPLIED AIR RESPIRATOR, OR AN AIR-PURIFYING RESPIRATOR FOR ACID. WEAR SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUS IN EMERGENCY CASES.
VENTILATION: LOCAL EXHAUST OR MECHANICAL (GENERAL) VENTILATION IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
      PROTECTIVE GLOVES: RUBBER IF SPILLED
EYE PROTECTION: SPLASH GOGGLES, FULL FACE SHIELD
OTHER PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: EYE WASH STATION, QUICK DRENCH SHOWER, RUBBER COVERALLS
WORK HYGIENIC PRACTICES: OBSERVE GOOD PERSONAL HYGIENE PRACTICES AND RECOMMENDED PROCEDURES. DO NOT WEAR CONTAMINATED CLOTHING OR FOOTWEAR.

If working in a confined area with limited ventilation, respirators may be needed.   This section also recommends that splash goggles and a full face shield be worn when working with Drain Snake.  Also, rubber gloves and coveralls will protect your hands and body from burns.

And make sure there's an emergency shower and eyewash nearby!
