When are the placement test offered?

The University of South Carolina offers placement tests in two areas: mathematics and foreign language. These tests are administered by the Office of Orientation and Testing on two weekend dates in April, the day before each Summer Orientation session, and just prior to January and August Orientations. We offer Math A, Math B, Spanish, French, German and Latin on those dates. If students have taken a different language during high school they must contact that department directly to take their foreign langage placement test.

What if a student misses the offered times?

As a courtesy for current USC students who have missed the regular testing dates, and who have no placement score, the Placement test will also be administered by the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Please contact those departments for times and dates.

Students who have received a "3"; or above on their Foreign Language and/or Calculus AP exams are exempt from their respective placement tests. Make sure to have your scores submitted to USC (institution code 5818), Office of the Registrar. Course placement is determined by the AP score.
