About the Program
In 2005, The University of South Carolina began offering an undergraduate degree in Business and Technology Education, administered by the Technology Support and Training Management Program. This major will help those seeking certification in high school business education, a critical field nationwide, reach their goal through an undergraduate program.

An undergraduate degree in Business Education is intended to prepare students for a career in teaching business courses in schools.

Admission/Progression Requirements
To be admitted into the College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management , you must meet all University admissions requirements, including (for freshmen) a completed application, non-refundable application fee, high-school record complete up to the time of application (including record of at least 20 academic units of study earned as required by the University), and entrance examination scores (either SAT or ACT). Details for all applicant categories can be found in the Undergraduate Bulletin. Admission to the Undergraduate Professional Program in Education is required of all undergraduate students completing baccalaureate programs leading to teacher certification in the area of Business and Technology Education. Applicants must be fully admitted into the Professional Program one semester prior to directed (student) teaching (internship) placement. Program of Study
The program includes a core of liberal arts courses, specialized computer technology, and retail, marketing, and management courses. Students must complete 40-47 hours of general education courses, 45 hours of education courses, 18 hours of clinical experience, and 42 hours of content area specialization. Of Special Interest
All of the classrooms in the College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management are multimedia ready with computer and video projection equipment, speaker system, a modern networked computer, and a DVD/VCR combo unit. Two graduate programs, the Master of Arts in Teaching and the Interdisciplinary Master of Arts, are available to interested students who wish to pursue graduate studies in business education.
