Heather is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, and the Beta Club. She is also active in Mu Alpha Theta and the biology club. She has also been named a Rotary Scholar in 2005, 2006, and 2007. In 2007, Heather participated in the Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics program at the University of North Carolina.
