Should I complete an international student application?
You should complete an international student application if you are:

• a student completing your secondary education in a country other than the United States
• if you are not a United States citizen

What credentials should be submitted in addition to your application?

• $50 (U.S.D.) nonrefundable application fee payable by credit card, international money order, or a bank draft drawn on a U.S. bank
• School records: these are transcripts or certificates of satisfactory study such as "A" or "O" levels, baccalaureat, bachillerato, Arbitur, or other school certificates. These records should an include an official English translation of the subjects you have studies and the grades you made in each student. Include an explanation of the grading system of each school. All such records must be submitted to a credential evaluation service.*
• If you have attended a post-secondary educational institution or university outside the United States, you must submit a professional credential evaluation of all work completed. This is generally referred to as a course-by-course report. This report should be sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions from the evaluation service. If you are currently enrolled in a term or semester, you should contact the evaluation service about getting a partial evaluation done. A final evaluation will be required prior to enrollment.
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): this test is required for all international students, except for those whose native language is English. You must score at least 550 on the TOEFL (or 210 on the computer-based TOEFL or 77 on the Internet-based TOEFL). For more information, visit the TOEFL web site at www.toefl.org.
• The University does not require international applicants to take the SAT or ACT. However, if you are applying for the South Carolina Honors College, you will need to submit scores for either the SAT or ACT.
• For honors applicants only: two letters of recommendation

*Where do I get a course-by-course report?
We will consider an evaluation from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). The web address is www.naces.org. A fee from the student is required for the evaluation of credentials. The payment and all contact regarding this process is done directly with the evaluation service. Do I have to worry about deadlines?
We recommend that you apply at least nine months before the semester in which you plan to begin your studies.

When will I hear back from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions?
It depends upon which deadline you meet. Typically, it takes four to six weeks for us to make a decision on your application. During the busiest time of our admission season (November through January), it can take up to 12 weeks.

How do I apply?
The easiest way to apply is by completing an online application. Before you can begin your online application, you must first set up an account with a unique user ID and password. Once you've begun your application, you may save it and return to it as many times as you wish.

I do not want to complete an electronic application. I want paper instead. What are my options?
You may call the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 803-777-7700 or toll-free, 800-868-5872, and ask to receive a paper application.

What if I have a problem while completing my online application?
