What's Included

  • SAS 6.12 for Mac CD.
  • Diskette with SETINIT.SAS file.

    System Requirements

  • Mac OS PowerPC.
  • 18-24 MB of free contiguous memory.
  • The SAS System must run with Version 7.5.3 or greater of Mac OS system software.

    Installation

  • Place the SAS CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
  • Double click on the SAS 6.12-668621 folder on the CD-ROM drive.
  • Double click the SAS System Install icon. You will see the "Choose an Option" window.
  • Click on Install button to Install SAS Software Products.
  • Click on "Select Target". Click on the New button to create the folder where you want to install the SAS System (the target folder). Click on "Desktop", then "Hard Drive, and then "New". You will see the SAS612 folder appear. Highlight it and then click on "Select".
  • When the new folder is created, highlight it and click the Select button. You should then be returned to the "Choose an Option" dialog box.

    Select Type of Installation

  • Easy - Installs all of the products in the SAS 6.12 folder on your hard drive.
  • Custom (Single Target) - **(Recommended for single users)** - When the Custom (Single Target) Installation component list box is displayed, select only the components that you want to install. The Base module is required. For statistical analysis select the STAT module. You can select these and other modules by clicking on the "x" boxes to the left of the module name. You can "de-select" all modules before selecting the ones you want by "de-selecting" SAS 6.12 at the top of the list (click on the "x" box until it is blank.)
  • Click the Install button.
  • Custom (Multiple Target) - Allows you to select products to install in up to five separate locations to conserve local disk space.

    Updating your SETINIT Information

  • The SAS System is licensed on an annual basis. In order to run SAS, current licensing information (also referred to as SETINIT) must be maintained. The enclosed update diskette contains the new licensing information for your site in the file named SETINIT.SAS (provided to you in a diskette with this handout).
  • Invoke the SAS System Install application. The SAS System Install application is located on your SAS Installation CD and under SAS612:tools. The SAS6.12 stands for the folder on your Hard Drive where the SAS software is located.
  • Click the License button from the Install Application window.
  • With the SAS Installation CD in your hard drive, From SAS System Install menu. Click on License.
  • Locate where your SAS system is located on your hard drive.
  • The screen will read "A license file has been located in your hard drive. Do you want to apply this license?"
  • Click "No".
  • The browse menu will come up for you to search for the SETINIT.SAS file that is on your diskette.
  • Put in your diskette with the SETINIT.SAS file. Highlight the SETINIT.SAS file and Click on Open. The new License information is applied to the SAS software. You can check to see that the setinit information have updated by bringing up SAS and typing proc setinit; run; This commands displays the to view the expiration date in the log window.

    Removing SAS Software Components

  • Click on the SAS System Install application.
  • Click the Remove button. Click on the desktop button to bring up the Hard Drive folder. Highlight the folder where the SAS System was installed and click the Select button.
  • Select the products that you want to remove by clicking the check box beside the product name.
  • Click the Remove button.
