Back to Carolina is your opportunity to complete your USC degree without leaving your family, job or community. Back to Carolina is a manageable degree completion program, leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree. The program offers online courses and lots of support.* Our advisors will help you with admissions, course selection and financial aid.
The program is open to former University of South Carolina students who for various reasons turned their focus to other matters and didn’t complete their degree. Candidates for the program must be at least 25 years of age, have a minimum of 60 credit hours and be eligible to return to USC. Advisors in the Extended University Office can assess your eligibility.
The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies is a multidisciplinary degree that goes beyond mastery of a single subject area. The degree teaches critical thinking, communications and problem solving—skills today’s employers are looking for.
Many of the courses you’ve already taken will apply towards this degree. If you have completed all general education requirements, you can get your last 60 hours online. Your advisor will help with course selection and provide a manageable plan to complete your degree.
The Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies has several unique courses in its curriculum—a South Carolina studies course that instructs students about their state and region, an internship that allows students to apply classroom knowledge to real-life experiences in the community and a senior capstone course that merges areas of study and emphasizes critical thinking, communications and problem solving.
