The Career Center offers tools you can use to discover or clarify your career interests: the Strong Interest Inventory (SII), the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), FOCUS, and South Carolina Occupational Information System (SCOIS). Some Discovery Tools are free. Others can be purchased using check, credit card, money order, or Carolina Card.

• FOCUS—This tool is an interactive system of career guidance and career decision-making. You create your own account, work through the questions, and print your profile. • SCOIS - South Carolina Occupational Information System - (COIN Career Library)—This computerized program offers 5 different discovery tools. You can explore as many of them as you choose and print your own profile. If you are a first time user, email the Career Center to obtain the required site ID and login name before accessing SCOIS. • Strong Interest Inventory (SII)—This tool identifies your interests and provides possible career options you can investigate. If you are interested in completing the SII, visit the Career Center and meet with a staff member during on call hours. After your completed inventory has been scored, a staff member will interpret your profile and give you a personalized 9-page report.

• Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)—This tool measures your preferences and provides you with a 4-letter personality type. It is not career specific, but it can help you make career decisions. If you are interested in completing the MBTI, visit the Career Center and meet with a staff member during on call hours.  After your completed inventory has been scored, a staff member will interpret your profile and give you a workplace report for your personality type.
