The guidelines below outline
student/alumni expectations for utilizing the Honors Alumni
Profiles. Users are expected to abide by all guidelines.
Profile information is considered confidential and
proprietary. You should respect confidentiality and not share the
information with others.
You
should never use contact information to mass mail resumes or letters or
for the purposes of solicitation.
You
should be
selective and thoughtful when contacting individuals. Have a
well thought out agenda prior to contacting an alumnus, and if using
the profiles for career purposes, conduct prior research on the
industry and/or employer.
You should
always identify yourself with first and last name and provide your own
contact information.
You should inform the alumni contact that you
obtained their information from USC's Honors Alumni Profiles database.
Remember
that while you first and foremost represent
yourself, you represent USC and the South Carolina Honors College as
well. Common courteousy, respect for
another's privacy and time, and expressions of thanks are appropriate.
