The University of South Carolina Child Development and Research Center
opened in September, 2003. The $4.1 million center was established to
provide the highest possible quality programming for young children
while serving as a teaching model and research site for the University
of South Carolina and the state’s early childhood community.
The first floor houses a full-day year-round non-profit 501(c)(3)
child development center licensed by the state of South Carolina
to serve up to 240 children. It is committed to meeting the highest
national standards of quality programming for the young children of
USC faculty, staff, students and the general public in a state-of-the-art facility.
The second level includes offices, research and observation areas
for university faculty, researchers and students; an activity room;
a technology-enhanced classroom; and a classroom with advanced
digital audiovisual, internet and TV production capabilities.
