WELCOME TO THE CAROLINA JOURNALISM INSTITUTE (CJI)
2013 CJI Wrap-Up
The Carolina Journalism Institute (CJI), a SIPA summer workshop, is a five-day high school journalism summer camp.
"When most people heard the words summer camp, they pictured intense hikes and sleeping bags in cabins. Rarely would someone think of nine-hour classes, busy teenagers scurrying around with video cameras and yogurt. But this isn't any summer camp. This is CJI."
-Ellory Scott, Dutch Fork HS (Irmo, S.C.) - CJI 2011
CJI is devoted to helping junior high and high school students and advisers in enhancing their knowledge of editing, writing, designing and production techniques for all scholastic publications and productions.
In addition to attending large group lectures, students and advisers spend time in individual classes in broadcast, desktop publishing, newspaper, photojournalism, yearbook and journalistic writing.
Newspaper and yearbook classes are further divided into classes for beginning and advanced students/editors, design, editors in chief and writing.
Advisers can attend the publication advising class or they may attend individual non-adviser classes in broadcast, design, photojournalism and desktop publishing. |
