Wikis create new challenges and opportunities for students and instructors alike. When skillfully employed, they can promote a sense of community, increase student engagement with the course content, and even make course management easier. Learn how faculty at the USC College of Nursing incorporated wikis into on-campus and online courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
About the Facilitators
JoAnne Herman is Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies in the
College of Nursing. Dr. Herman’s area of teaching expertise is nursing theory, clinical reasoning, and research. She teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Her recent endeavors have led her teaching large online sections.
Vera Polyakova-Norwood is the Director of Online Learning in the College of Nursing, where she assists faculty with design, development, implementation and evaluation of online courses, modules and activities. She has led numerous workshops on technology-based teaching and learning for USC faculty and graduate students.
