Report from

Board of Governors - Faculty House

The Board of Governors of Faculty House has decided to contract with Marriott Corporation to manage Faculty House. This action was taken to improve service and profitability at Faculty House. Marriott currently is under contract with the University to operate the Food Service and Presidential catering. Marriott will be operating the new Advocacy Center and this should mean more business for Faculty House especially in the evening. Marriott Corporation is a large international organization and should bring better, more efficient management to Faculty House. I wish to emphasize that Faculty House will continue to be a faculty-run, free-standing club. Marriott will not be putting a "big M" sign in front. The staff will remain the same for at least 90 days (hopefully longer) after Marriott assumes management on January 1, 1998. Jeff Narr will continue as the Faculty House manager and the Board of Governors will still set overall policy. Members will probably not see much change from our current operation except, perhaps, better service. Any questions or concerns may be directed to me.
