Friends from the University of South Carolina remember the victims of the fire.
Travis Lane Cale was born in Greenville, S.C, on Jan. 6, 1988. He was the son of Steve and Connie Cale and brother of Burns Cale.
Travis was an incredible human being whom, even if you only met once, you would always remember--always smiling and most of all making others smile.
Travis attended J.L. Mann High School in Greenville, where he also played second base for the Mann baseball team. After high school, Travis attended the University of South Carolina.
While attending USC, Travis pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon. His brother Burns was already a member of this fraternity, along with many other people from Greenville, including a large majority from J.L. Mann High School.
Asking anyone who was a brother of this fraternity, it is easily realized that everyone loved Travis and had at least one funny story about something Travis had done.
Although Travis only lived to be 19 years old, most would say he made the most of those 19 years. If you were to ask Travis what he would want people to think about him, he would want people to say that he always wanted to have a good time.
Travis also took a lot of pride in helping others. He was always eager to offer help to anyone that needed it. Travis was the definition of a True Gentleman and in most people's eyes was an all-American guy.
With all this being said, you can't speak about Travis without talking about Justin. They were closer than most brothers and were inseparable. Together they could brighten anyone's day and make anyone feel accepted.
They didn't know the definition of a stranger; everyone was a friend to these two young men. Everyone joked with them in high school because they knew the name of every lunch lady and janitor. They also hung out with some of the mentally challenged students at J.L. Mann, making them feel normal like everyone else.
They were genuine people with hearts full of love not only for friends but for everyone.
