David T. Harrison

David T. Harrison, Columbus State Community College

David T. Harrison became the fifth president of Columbus State Community College, one of the largest higher education institutions in Ohio, in 2010. He came to Columbus State from Orlando, where, as vice provost for Regional Campuses at the University of Central Florida (UCF) he led a system consisting of 11 campus locations in seven counties. Harrison was instrumental in establishing the Central Florida Higher Education Consortium and the nationally recognized DirectConnect to UCF program, which guarantees admission to UCF for graduates of partner community colleges, providing access to a bachelor's degree for record numbers of transfer students. While at UCF, he led workforce development projects in architecture, healthcare, information technology, and digital media. He expanded access to working adults through targeted online learning and led a regional partnership to increase the college participation rate among high school graduates. Harrison has held leadership positions with Seminole State College in Florida and Sinclair Community College in Ohio and is a chapter co-author in Transfer Student in Higher Education: Building Foundations for Policies, Programs, and Services That Foster Student Success, published by the National Resource Center.
