VIDEO STREAMING

Video files are "streamed" over the internet to you. Unlike pdf files, the entire video file is not downloaded to your computer -- it is streamed as it plays, and when the video is done, the streaming stops.

To view our streamed video, you will need QUICKTIME Player 6.5.2 (either the full version or the free player) installed on your computer as a helper application. There are Windows and Macintosh versions of this player.

You may already have  QUICKTIME Player 6.5.2 installed on your computer.   If you do not have QUICKTIME Player 6.5.2, you can download and install the latest version of the player, free of charge, by clicking the link below:

www.apple.com/quicktime/download

If you have trouble downloading, installing, or configuring the Player program, Quicktime has additional support available at its website. The QUICKTIME 6.5 support page is at:

www.apple.com/support/quicktime

Our video-streamed programming is encoded/compressed/sent-out at 282kbs.

The video-streamed programming is not closed-captioned.

Web page video streaming is relatively straightforward, but we cannot know the capabilities of each person’s computer.  Video streaming is very sensitive to the “traffic” it encounters on its way to your computer.  We’ve found some viewers’ local campus Internet traffic - the last mile - can delay, slow down, or even stop the streaming.  There is nothing we, the source of video streaming, can do about these Internet traffic problems.  If you experience a serious problem during the broadcast and are unable to view the teleconference, please contact us.  We will send one VHS or DVD copy of the teleconference to the contact person listed on the registration form at no extra charge.
