Who are the EcoReps?

We are peer leaders working in residence halls to educate students about environmental issues, living a more sustainable lifestyle, and the connection that we all have to the University’s sustainability goals. The EcoReps program is a collaboration between University Housing and Sustainable Carolina.

What do we do?

The EcoReps work on a variety of events and campaigns, both campus wide and in their individual residence halls.  Here are some of our main duties:

  • Plan interactive and fun events promoting sustainable living
  • Collaborate with RHA and Hall Governments to plan more sustainable events
  • Manage an organic garden plot at the Carolina Community Garden at Preston Green
  • Manage the Green Dorm Room Certification Program
  • Campaign for the University to implement more sustainable practices across campus

No Impact Week

Join us for the second annual No Impact Week at the University of South Carolina from November 11-17! No Impact Week is a way to challenge yourself to live a more sustainable lifestyle by taking on daily challenges. Throughout the week the challenges compound, so by Saturday you should be making "no impact" on the environment.  The challenges are:

Sunday - Buy nothing new
Monday - Make no trash
Tuesday - Take sustainable transportation
Wednesday - Eat locally and seasonally
Thursday - Minimize your energy use
Friday - Minimize your water use
Saturday - Give back to the community

There will be 3 events featuring FREE stuff throughout the week to help you progress through the challenges.  Sign up to participate by emailing ecorepsusc@gmail.com or joining our facebook event at facebook.com/scecoreps
