STANDARDIZED TESTS

Dental School
The Dental Admission Test (DAT) is required. The DAT is only offered by computer at Sylvan Technology Test Centers. Instructions for registration are in the DAT Application and Preparation Materials.

Optometry School
The Optometry Admission Test (OAT) is a standardized examination designed to measure academic ability and comprehension of scientific information. The OAT exam is administered twice a year, usually in February and October.

Osteopathic Medical School
The MCAT is also required for Osteopathic Medicine. Check with individual schools about when the MCAT must be taken.

Podiatry School
The MCAT is also required for Podiatry School. Check with individual schools about when the MCAT must be taken.

Veterinary School
Most veterinary schools require the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Some also require the MCAT or the Veterinary College Admission Test (VCAT). Be sure to find out what test(s) is(are) required by the schools to which you plan to apply. The VCAT is offered in April, November and December and may also be taken by computer throughout the year. The GRE is also offered year-round on computer. You must take the VCAT by the end of the year in which you apply to veterinary school.
