DO YOU ASPIRE TO ATTEND MEDICAL SCHOOL OR HEALTH PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL?

If so, then being a physician, dentist, optometrist, or veterinarian is more than a hope or a dream—it is a calling. Hard work and perseverance will be required throughout your undergraduate education to reach this goal. Medical schools require strong academic and medical entrance examination (MCAT) performance. In addition, health related community service, shadowing and work experience enhance your application. The Department of Housing and Office of Pre-Professional Advising have developed a program to foster your success as a scholar and a leader. If you aspire to be a health care provider, we hope that you will consider applying for this program.

WHAT IS THE PRE-MEDICAL COMMUNITY?

The Pre-Medical Community of Moore Hall provides a living and learning environment for students who want assistance preparing for academic success in the pre-medical curriculum. The Pre-Medical Community offers students access to an array of academic support services including math and writing tutors, computer labs, study sessions, and opportunities to interact with medical professionals, faculty, and staff from the Office of Pre-Professional Advising. The Pre-Medical Community provides exposure to health care experiences, community service, and faculty involvement in a residential community. Lecture series, panel discussions, study groups, field trips and social programs are some of the great benefits. Interaction with other students pursuing similar career interests is an academic support as well.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PRE-MEDICAL COMMUNITY?

This program provides academic support services for highly motivated first year students with a minimum 3.0 high school G.P.A. and/or a 1000 SAT, who are serious about pursuing careers in the medical field.
