DO YOU ASPIRE TO ATTEND MEDICAL SCHOOL?
If so, then being a physician is more than a hope or a dream – it is a calling. Hard work and perseverance will be required throughout your undergraduate education to reach this goal. Medical schools require strong academic and medical entrance examination (MCAT) performance. In addition, health related community service, job shadowing and work experience enhance your application. The Office of Pre-Professional Advising has created a program to foster your development as a scholar and a leader. If you aspire to be a physician, we hope that you will consider applying for this program.

WHAT IS THE PACES SUMMER RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM?
The Pre-medical Academic and Career Exploration Series (PACES) Summer Residential Program is an intensive week-long program designed to assist entering first year students in exploring a career in medicine and in gaining skills necessary for becoming a successful pre-medical student. This program will provide academic, career and interpersonal support services to assist students with becoming competitive applicants to medical school. Students should be highly motivated, serious students and interested in participating in a pre-medical student success summer experience.

The PACES Summer Residential Program participants will also be encouraged to enroll in a pre-medical section of University 101 for the fall semester. University 101 provides exposure to community service, lectures, panel discussions, study groups, field trips, and other academic, social and cultural programs that help enhance their personal and academic success. Interaction with other students pursuing similar career interests is a focus as well.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE PACES SUMMER RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM?
This program serves highly motivated incoming first year USC students with a minimum 3.0 high school GPA and a 1000 SAT (or comparable ACT score), who are serious about pursuing careers in the medical field.
