MENTORING PROGRAM WHAT is it? This program pairs undergraduates with graduate students, early graduate students with seasoned graduate students, and graduate students with faculty to create bridges of information and resources to help students make a successful transition from one experience to the next. This is NOT a research program but this may help you find opportunities.
WHY? Having someone who has been through the same thing you are going through can help make the transition smoother and less scary. Your mentor will be a great resource for answering questions and learning if the career you are exploring or have chosen is the right fit for you.
WHO can do this (eligibility)? At this time, the program is open to students in the sciences only, particularly those interested in the medical sciences research areas.
WHAT will I have to do in the program? Attend 3 events with your mentor (a meet & greet, a mid-year mixer, and end of year wrap-up) and contact your mentor twice per month. Please see the guidebook for more information.
HOW do I apply?Complete the application form and email it to: jennifer.mclarty@uscmed.sc.edu by September 8, 2010.
