Sources of Support
Partner offices: OUR
works closely with many offices on campus that students in
research would find helpful. All of these folks are extremely
nice. Some of these offices include:
- The Office of Fellowships
and Scholar Programs provides assistance for students
interested in applying for fellowships and scholarships. For
example, the Goldwater scholarship provides up to $7,500 for
outstanding juniors/seniors interested in careers in math,
science, or engineering. Contact them to find out more!
- The Office of
Pre-Professional Advising helps students interested in law
school or the health professions. This office assists with the
application process, offers job shadowing, and provides a host
of other opportunities, activities, and assistance.
- The Career Center is
an excellent resource for students at all levels of their
academic career - from resume prep to interviewing skills to job
search. The Career Center also assists with internships and
co-ops if these opportunities are more what you are looking for.
- Service Learning provides students the opportunity to learn about social issues and to apply that knowledge in the community.
- Student Success Center provides free academic assistance, including supplemental instruction, tutoring, general skills consultations, math help, etc. Everything to help you be a successful student!
- The Writing Center
offers free consultations and constructive feedback to help
writers accomplish their own goals. Also has some great links on
the “Students” page for helping yourself.
- University Housing
has an incredible variety of academic support opportunities
under:
Residential Learning Initiatives. This includes a full page
of
Academic Success Tip Sheets and Resources such as Exam
preparation, getting to know your professors, concentration and
memory tricks, etc.
- The Office of Student Engagement helps connect students to opportunities beyond the classroom, including service-learning, the Sophomore Initiative, leadership opportunities, etc.
- The Honors College offers a number of funding opportunities for Honors students interested in research including travel funds to conduct and present research.
