Kwame Dawes, Voices from Haiti

Since the earthquake that devastated Haiti on January 12th 2010, Kwame Dawes has traveled to Haiti four times to write about the lives of people since the quake with funding from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.  This month, the Center launched a website of video-poems by Kwame Dawes and Andre Lambertson, the photojournalist, that chronicles the lives of people they met in Haiti.  The poems show that behind the headlines and the sensational news footage, there are familiar human lives, people with names and dreams and fears and laughter—proud people, and people of profound faith.  Many of them need help.  Kwame can direct you to the folks who can help these people.  Just drop him a note by email.  dawesk@mailbox.sc.edu.  Let him know what you think about these video poems which you can see, read, and listen to at http://pulitzercenter.org/features/voices-haiti
