The Faculty Excellence Initiative (FEI) is a program to recruit faculty who will advance USC as a leader in education and research by building upon areas of existing strengths to achieve national and international prominence.
The interdisciplinary FEI program addresses rising areas of scholarship and education by leveraging existing resources and supporting established strategic visions. The entire process is an exercise in multi-disciplinary collaboration-in many cases, faculty and deans from two to three colleges and schools work together to nominate and hire a single cluster of FEI faculty.
The primary goal of the FEI program is to improve the overall quality and competitiveness of the University of South Carolina by focusing positions in areas that advance the institution as a recognized leader in education and scholarship.
The University of South Carolina FEI program is bringing 150 new tenure-track faculty members with an emphasis toward recruiting multidisciplinary clusters of scholars who build on the university's strengths and move the university toward an innovative future.
