"Here's a Health Carolina!" is a multidisciplinary educational symposium coordinated by the Health Sciences (Arnold School of Public Health, School of Medicine, College of Nursing College of Pharmacy, College of Social Work) of the University of South Carolina's flagship institution. This year's event will focus on geriatric health.
A gift to our alumni, friends and the greater community, this inaugural event will stimulate lively and candid discussion regarding aging, and present opportunities for the University to identify and develop solid, mutually beneficial relationships with individuals and organizations in the community.
The University of South Carolina takes pride in presenting the state's and the nation's most highly regarded academicians and professionals to the community. Academic leaders from the University's Health Sciences will discuss trends in geriatric education, research and outreach and how they will affect the aging population throughout the state and across the country. Also scheduled to speak is Joyce Dubow, M.U.P, senior policy and strategy advisor from the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), whose insight on geriatric health care policy and reform will complement the academic offerings.
Our goal is to offer relevant and applicable knowledge to geriatric health care professionals on how to best treat seniors as they advance in age, and to share advice with health care consumers during their transition into the Golden Years with a sharp body and mind. Professionals will have the opportunity to earn continuing education and continuing medical education credits at this event, as well as network with peers in the field.
