The letter “C” indicates that the courses are offered through independent learning. The numbers are the same as those used in the general University of South Carolina bulletin. Be sure that you read and understand all policies and procedures before applying for a course.

Courses numbered 100-199 are primarily for freshmen
Courses numbered 200-299 are primarily for sophomores
Courses numbered 300-499 are for upper division undergraduates
Courses numbered 500-699 are senior and professional courses

Perceptive listening and appreciation of musical elements, forms and style periods, including composers’ lives, individual styles and representative works. Emphasis is on classical music; jazz and American popular music included.
