MTH 031 058H: Beginning Algebra (First Semester, ½ unit)
Students will become acquainted with basic algebraic concepts such as integers, linear equations, linear inequalities, factoring, and fractions. This course provides opportunities for students of various levels of ability to be successful and to develop knowledge and skills commensurate with their capacity and desire to learn.

MTH 032 058H: Beginning Algebra (Second Semester, ½ unit)
Instruction in linear sentences, algebra in a plane, linear systems, functions, fractional equations, real numbers, equations with real solutions, and plane trigonometry is provided in this course.

MTH 035 055H: Geometry (First Semester, ½ unit)
Students develop reasoning skills using geometric terms and processes, concepts of logic, and applied problem solving. Topics include parallel lines and planes, congruent triangles, inequalities, and quadrilaterals. Geometric concepts are analyzed using formal, paragraph, and indirect proofs. Recommended for students who have completed one year of algebra.

MTH 036 055H: Geometry (Second Semester, ½ unit)
Students continue to develop geometry skills while studying similarity, areas and volumes, right triangles, circles, coordinate geometry, and transformations. Current mathematical standards involving problem solving, communication, reasoning, and connections are carefully followed in this course.

MTH 039 056H: Second Year Algebra 1 (First Semester, ½ unit)
(Prerequisite: one year of beginning algebra.) Such concepts as integers, polynomials, factoring, rational expressions, real numbers, equations, and inequalities are presented and related to practical problems encountered in daily living.

MTH 040 056H: Second Year Algebra 2 (Second Semester, ½ unit)
Logarithms and trigonometry are presented in depth. Included is the study of conic sections, progressions and series, trigonometric functions, graphing, and problem solving. The subject matter provides a good foundation for the future study of mathematics, chemistry, physics, or engineering.

MTH 043 056H: Pre-Calculus 1: Analytic Geometry and Algebra (First Semester, ½ unit)
(Prerequisite: two years of algebra and one year of geometry.) Analytic geometry and advanced topics in algebra are presented in this course. The emphasis is on functions, including algebraic, logarithmic, exponential, and matrix functions. Drawings and graphs are presented frequently to clarify essential mathematical principles.

MTH 044 056H: Pre-Calculus 2: Trigonometry (Second Semester, ½ unit)
(Prerequisite: two years of algebra and one year of geometry.) This course presents the student with a thorough treatment of trigonometric concepts and applications. Among the subjects included are proofs of trigonometric identities, solutions of right and oblique triangles, solutions of trigonometric equations, logarithms, vector applications, and complex numbers.
