Instructions and documents on how to configure Outlook and other e-mail clients on your desktop are listed below. Please select the type of instructions you need. Printer-friendly versions are available.


FACULTY/STAFF Documentation

  • E-mail Migration Overview: This is an overview that is shared with departments about 4 weeks prior to the scheduled migration date. It covers what faculty and staff will need to do to prepare for the e-mail migration including saving and archiving messages.   back to top

  • E-mail Migration Specifics: This document outlines specifics about what needs to be done a few days prior to the scheduled migration including what will move and what won’t move into the new University E-mail system.  back to top

  • Helpful tips for departments / colleges still using GroupWise: These are tips that will help faculty and staff who are still using GroupWise and have not yet migrated. These cover how to manage your frequent contacts, saving and archiving mail, and setting up alias e-mail accounts   back to top

  • Validating Outlook 2007: For SLA departments and colleges that get MS Office 2007,
    including Outlook 2007, installed remotely to their workstations, a validation process is needed to verify the installation was complete. These are instructions on how to do this. (Requires Adobe Reader)   back to top

  • Windows Mobile Device (PDA) Configuration: Windows Mobile Device PDAs work directly with Exchange through Activesync. These instructions will help faculty, staff, and students configure their Windows Mobile Device PDAs. Other PDAs such as Blackberrys and Palm O/S devices still need to use NotifyLink to sync with Exchange e-mail. If you are a current NotifyLink for GroupWise user, and your department is migrating to Exchange, NotifyLink needs to be removed from your Windows Mobile device, and your account on the NotifyLink GroupWise server needs to be removed.   back to top

  • Outlook and EVM Configuration (Enabled VoiceMail): These instructions will help faculty and staff who have EVM (Enabled VoiceMail) setup in GroupWise to have their faxes and voicemail sent directly to their new University E-mail (Exchange) account.   back to top

  • Configuring Outlook 2003 RPC/HTTPS: These instructions will be used only for faculty and staff moving from Groupwise and other e-mail clients to Outlook 2003. You must first be listed in the Exchange Global Address List (GAL) before configuring Outlook. If you are not sure you are in this address list, please contact the UTS Help Desk at (803) 777-1800 or e-mail helpdesk@sc.edu .* Non-technical faculty and staff do not need to do this on their own. Network administrators will install Outlook properly to faculty and staff workstations.  back to top
