Overview & Benefits
Purpose:
The University is working on a project to consolidate
the way directory systems are maintained along with
unifying the campus with one e-mail system: Microsoft
Exchange. University faculty and staff will use the
Microsoft Outlook client for e-mail, which will replace
Novell GroupWise. University students will use Microsoft
Outlook Web Access for e-mail, which will replace the
existing GEM system.
The University will be using the Microsoft Active
Directory 2003 and Microsoft Exchange 2003 systems. The
purpose is to serve as a cornerstone of the technology
infrastructure to create better communication within the
University community and with peer institutions in
support of the University mission of instruction,
research and service. |
The Active Directory and Exchange project began in the fall
of 2004. Project team members include network administrators and
