The University of South Carolina’s school colors, garnet and black, are used most prominently in the Header Area and Left Navigation Bar. Web-safe versions of these colors are built into the template. These colors are also applied via cascading style sheets to text in the content area to indicate regular text (black, 000000), linked text (garnet, 990000), and visited linked text (dark gray, 666666).

In addition to these colors, a palette of complementary colors has been created for use as backgrounds in content and navigation areas. The color charts below have been divided into blocks that will work best with black text, white text, or both. The number for each Web-safe color is indicated its color block.
