Content Area
The Content Area of the page is for photography, art, text, or a combination of all of these elements. The embedded cascading style sheet system allows for a consistent typographic style to be applied across the University’s Web pages and allows Web masters to concentrate on the content of the site.
The content area will always be 570 pixels wide. The depth of the page will be determined by the size of the image and the length of the text. The minimum depth of a page, including header, content, and footer areas should be 450 pixels (the size of the template).
While there are no restrictions on layout in the content area, the templates were designed with page grids that allow for a pleasing spacing of text and art elements. Click here for illustrations of two- and three-column grids.

In the original template, the Content Area of many main University Web pages is based on a three-column grid.

There is a 15-pixel margin along the top, bottom, and left of the content area. There is a 20-pixel space between columns and on the outside margin. This spacing is the standard used in the creation of the templates and in layouts created by the Web Presence Team.
