Let's do the numbers: Self Service Carolina sees thousands register for classes, claim financial aid
With the registration and financial aid portions of the OneCarolina project now up and running, let's take a look at some of the early returns from the first few months.
Using Self Service Carolina (SSC), the new system used by students, faculty, and staff to manage their personal information:
- Over 25,000 students have registered for almost 122,000 academic courses.
- 52,072 have filed for 2013-2014 financial aid.
- More than $317 million in financial aid has been awarded.
This marks the first time since the late 1990s that USC students used a system other than VIP to register for classes.
And further changes aren't scheduled to slow down anytime soon. An update last week added Blackboard and Carolina Card support under the banner of OneCarolina, with things like bill and tuition payment scheduled to hit SSC in July when the Accounts Receivable portion of project goes live.
