Carolina Experience Peer Leaders (CEPL)

Carolina Experience Peer Leaders, formermly Academic Engagement Peer Consultants (AEPCs) assist with the SophoMORE Year Initiative, the Junior Year Experience, Transfer Student Success, and faculty-student interaction programs such as Mutual Expectations.

Eligibility

To be considered, you must:

  • Be an undergraduate student at the University of South Carolina-Columbia
  • Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Be in your third year or beyond at USC at time of employment
  • Have effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Have strong organizational and time management skills
  • Have a desire to help their fellow students
  • Having experience with event planning/execution is preferred, but not required
  • This position is for the full academic year, from August 2024-May2025
  • Must be willing to return to campus in early August for training prior to the start of the semester, Exact date TBA. 
 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Helps guide and support sophomores, juniors and transfer students while at USC
  • Holds one-on-one consultations with students in regard to the sophomore year, junior year, and transfer year
  • Helps plan and implement all programming and outreach for sophomore year, junior year, and transfer students
  • Assists with support for students who have transferred to USC through programming and outreach and helps support transfer student organizations
  • Aids in survey and focus group analysis of targeted populations
  • Other duties as assigned
 

Breakdown of Weekly Hours 

Minimum of 10-12 guaranteed hours per week

  • 9-12 consultation and project hours
  • 1 staff meeting hour
  • Bonus hours opportunity for working events outside of scheduled hours
