Office of Undergraduate Admissions

USC students at the Darla Moore School of Business

Requirements To Be Readmitted to USC

If you are a former USC student wishing to return to the University after missing a major semester (either Fall or Spring), then you will need to reapply. Readmission to the University and to the program in which you were previously enrolled is not automatic. It's possible that you may need to petition the academic department for readmission. The admissions office will let you know if this is necessary after reviewing your application and will send you the necessary paperwork.

Athletic Training

Minimum 2.5 GPA

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

2.0 GPA if you were enrolled in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology previously. 2.5 GPA if you were not enrolled in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology previously. For more information about the major, please visit http://www.chem.sc.edu/undergraduate/default.asp.

Biology

Minimum 2.0 GPA if you were in biology previously; 2.5 GPA if not in biology previously.

Business majors

Former USC Columbia students who were previously students in the Darla Moore School of Business can apply for Spring, Summer, or Fall 2017 admission. Former USC students who were not previously students in the Darla Moore School of Business can apply for the Summer and Fall 2017 terms only. The minimum requirement to be considered for admission is a 3.0 cumulative and USC GPA on all college-level coursework and completion of USC’s MATH 122 (or its transfer equivalent) with a grade of “C” or better. Students must also have at least 30 semester hours at the point of application. However, please note that admission into the Darla Moore school of Business is very competitive, and students who meet the minimum 3.0 GPA and calculus requirement are not guaranteed admission. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions carefully evaluates each application in consideration with the enrollment goals of the Darla Moore School of Business. In previous years, students below a 3.5 USC and cumulative GPA were generally not competitive for admission.

Spring 2017 readmission decisions for the Darla Moore School of Business will be made no earlier than mid-December 2017 after we evaluate the applicant pool and review all transcripts. Also, please note that students who have not completed MATH 122 (or its transfer equivalent) at the time of application will not be considered for admission into the Darla Moore School of Business.

Summer and Fall 2017 readmission decisions for the Darla Moore School of Business will be made no earlier than mid-June 2017 after we evaluate the applicant pool and review all transcripts. Also, please note that students who have not completed MATH 122 (or its transfer equivalent) at the time of application will not be considered for admission into the Darla Moore School of Business.

Attendance at another College after USC

You must also meet the same requirements as transfer students. In evaluating your application, we will look at your transfer GPA and USC GPA separately.

Suspension from USC

You may apply for readmission after completing your suspension. You will need to submit:

  • an application for readmission and a petition for reinstatement if a major semester has been missed; or
  • a petition for reinstatement if the attempt is being made after notification of suspension but prior to missing a major semester. A petition for reinstatement is made to the University college or school from which you were suspended.
  • If you attend another college-level institution while suspended from the University, you must maintain a satisfactory average at that institution in order to retain the privilege of being considered for readmission at the conclusion of your suspension. The University does not transfer credit earned during a period of suspension, but the quality of grades could affect the decision for readmission.
