It is time to kick off another year in Gamecock Country!!
The AEC invites you to join us for a "Pre-Game Tailgate Happy Hour" on TUESDAY, AUG 28, 5-7 pm, at Thirsty Fellow (621 Gadsen St- right behind Carolina Coliseum)
AEC will provide finger food. You may buy drinks from the bar on your own. Please join us as we get ready for the Vandy game while renewing old friendships and making new ones!!!
The event is FREE to AEC members (unless you buy drinks from the bar). But- please do rsvp to Art Farlowe at afarlowe@mailbox.sc.edu so we know about how many people to plan for!

This year we are going to offer several community service opportunities for AEC members. Please see the message from Natalie Cruz about our first service opportunity.

Hello everyone! I am excited to be a part of a new community service/volunteer initiative of the Administrative Employee’s Club. We really want to give back to the Columbia community this year, and hopefully get people excited about a new aspect of this terrific organization.
We discussed a lot of ideas at our summer retreat for service ideas, but I would love to hear from you! Do you have any great organizations, events, or people in the community that we could serve? Please let me know – we will plan as many events as we have the desire and demand for!
To begin, I have signed us up to be a part of United Way’s Day of Action on Thursday, September 20th from 2-5 PM. Right now we have 9 total spots, so let me know ASAP if you want to be a part of this inaugural service project. We will be working at the Palmetto Health Foundation to help prepare for the Walk for Life by folding t-shirts. We will also take inventory for upcoming events, including the Festival of Trees and the Children’s Miracle Network. This project will be indoors. Another exciting aspect of this event is that all volunteers are invited to a reception at EdVenture Children’s museum afterwards from 5:30-7:30 PM. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their family for a free night exploring the museum and celebrating their volunteer work. Also, I was told that President Pastides will be making an appearance and speech at this event.
Please e-mail me at ncruz@sc.edu if you are able to attend this event, along with your t-shirt size. It will be first come, first serve. If there is an overwhelming demand, then I may be able to set up another location that day. Don’t forget to let me know what ideas you have for service this year.
