Bursar is a Latin term meaning "official in charge of funds" or "keeper of the purse."

The University Bursar provides a variety of services to the university including:

• Accepting Accounts Receivable payments made by cash, personal check, or money orders. Credit card payments must be done through the Internet (VIP) (https://vip.sc.edu).
• Distributing scholarships, financial aid, student and emergency loan checks.
• Handling student organizational deposits
• Legal Residency information
• Student Loans and Accounts Receivables collections.
• A valid student ID card must be presented for most services.
