USC Communications


The newly created Department of Strategic and Presidential Communications develops, in conjunction with the vice president for communications, the strategy for the University of South Carolina president's written and verbal communications and messaging.

The director also assists in writing institutional communications regarding policy, strategic planning and other high-level administrative decisions. The director researches and writes speeches and provides talking points that advance the university's mission and contribute to the state, national and global discourse in higher education and related issues.

The department also assists the president and his senior team in responding to diverse university matters through reports, correspondence, Web, electronic and print communications and university and community forums. This department also monitors the president's calendar for events requiring strategic messaging.
