Service Learning is a pedagogical model that integrates community service, academic learning, and civic learning in response to the call for higher education to prepare students for active citizenship. The Center for Teaching Excellence has joined with the Provost's Service Learning Task Force to provide pedagogical context for faculty interested in integrating a Service Learning approach into their classrooms. Service Learning can serve as a powerful pedagogical tool in many academic disciplines.
