Multimedia Classrooms

The Thomas Cooper Library maintains two multimedia classrooms as part of a cooperative effort with University 101. These classrooms are available for use as instructional facilities by all University faculty.

Each room combines an overhead projection unit with a smart instructor's station and 30 student workstations.

The instructor's station allows for the overhead projection of the instructor's computer desktop and ELMO presentation unit. Windows laptops and newer model Macintosh laptops can be patched into the projection system, enabling instructors to bring specialized software into the classroom. The classroom also enables the use of DVDs, video cassettes, audio CDs, and 35mm slides.

The computers in the classroom have the following capabilities:

  • Dell Optiplex GX230, Intel Pentium 4, 2.2 Ghz, 256k RAM
  • Windows 2000 Professional
  • CD-RW, DVD-R
  • Microsoft Office XP [Word, PowerPoint, Excel, FrontPage, Access]
  • Internet Explorer 6.x, Netscape 7.x, Opera 6.x.

Faculty members with questions about the facilities or wishing to reserve a classroom should contact Francess Murray,
