The University of South Carolina in Columbia has eight libraries housing several prominent collections. The main library, Thomas Cooper, is "considered by most to be the best library between Chapel Hill, N.C., and Austin, Texas," according to travel guide Moon Handbooks. It ranks among the top-37 public university libraries in the nation.

Acclaimed director Ken Burns' documentary on World War II drew extensively from the University's Newsfilm Library. Holdings devoted to John Milton, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Kaye Gibbons are among Thomas Cooper's impressive digital and special collections.

Gifts to the University Libraries fund the acquisition of new resources, subscriptions to digital resources, and the preservation of rare and historical materials. Contributions may also take the form of in-kind gifts - books, manuscripts, papers, and other materials. Online donations are a very effective way for you to have an immediate impact on the Library.

Contributions of $1,000 or more annually will entitle you to a complimentary membership in the Libraries' Ex Libris Society with appropriate recognition, as well as memberships in the Thomas Cooper Society and the University South Caroliniana Society.

3. Scroll down to click on the button beside "Libraries." Click on "Continue."
4. Select a "Designation" for your gift or specify an item not in the list.
