The Mathematics Library, located on the third floor of LeConte College, contains
more than 18,000 volumes of books and periodicals pertaining to the subject of
mathematics. It houses USC's collection of materials on pure mathematics
and some works on applied mathematics. It also maintains reserve materials assigned for
all mathematics courses taught at the Columbia campus.
Periodicals
Current issues of more than 200 mathematics journals are shelved in alphabetical order
in the periodical display area to the right of the Circulation Desk. Bound back
issues of these journals are shelved with the rest of the collection. Consult the library catalog
or the Serial Record microfiche for their call numbers and holdings.
Reserves
All collateral reading material assigned for mathematics courses is kept on reserve in
the Mathematics Library. Some materials assigned for computer science and statistics courses
are also located on Mathematics Reserve. Patrons may obtain reserve materials from Library
staff by requesting the item by course number or title. Most items on reserve DO NOT CIRCULATE,
and the patron must present a current valid University I.D. card or driver's license before
being allowed to use them.
Circulation Policy
Most books in the Mathematics Library may be checked out for a period of four weeks.
Bound and unbound issues of journals and Reference materials are non-circulating and
may not be taken from the Library.
Facilities
All items in the Mathematics Library are cataloged and may be located through the library online catalog or the
card catalog. Catalog terminals are available in the Library and are located
behind the Circulation desk.
