The Music Library at the University of South Carolina maintains reserve collections of class-related materials to support the School of Music's academic programs. Reserves may consist of audio/visual materials, scores, books, and personal copies from the Music Library's collections. In addition to traditional course reserves housed behind the circulation desk, the Music Library also provides 24-hour access to Naxos Music Library.

Traditional course reserve materials are housed behind the circulation desk in the Music Library. A notebook is kept at the desk, which contains the reserve lists for all music classes using reserve services. Classes are listed alphabetically by professor. If an item is not in the reserve folder, it is not on reserve.

CHECKING OUT RESERVE MATERIALS:
All students need a valid University of South Carolina ID to check out reserve materials. Students may check out two (2) items at any given time. Most reserve materials circulate for two hours in the library. Reserve items may not leave the library, although faculty and teaching assistants may check out reserve items for class use for a period of two hours.

RENEWALS:
We do not, as a rule, renew reserve items. This is to ensure that everyone in a class has an opportunity to check out reserve items. We do not place holds on reserve materials. We operate on a first-come, first-serve basis.

FINES:
All reserve items must be returned to the Music Library circulation desk. Because course reserve materials are in demand, fines for late returns are strictly enforced. The course reserve fine rate is $0.10 a minute for each item. Course reserve fines accrue continually, 24 hours a day, regardless of library hours.
